Creating the perfect soak

It’s time to ditch the shower and embrace the soak life.

Even if you think you don’t like baths, we dare you to follow our tips to creating the perfect soak and see if you still feel the same way.

After all, there is nothing better than climbing into a warm tub, closing your eyes and letting go of the day’s stress.

Here are our favourite tips on how you can create the perfect soak:

Get the Right Temperature

A warm bath is great but don’t make it too hot or you’ll end up feeling sick rather than relaxed. Your bath temperature should 37 degrees C to 38 degrees C, which is around body temperature. Use your wrist to test the water before you get in to avoid getting into a bath that’s too hot.

Create a relaxing environment

Light a candle, put your phone on silent and make your bathroom your sanctuary from the world. It’s up to you what to do in the bath; listen to music, read a book or just close your eyes and practise some mindfulness. Just make sure whatever it is you do, you won’t get bored doing it otherwise you will want to climb back out.

Multi-task

If you don’t think you could relax in a bath because you don’t have time and have too many things to do, then multi-task. While you are in the bath throw on a face mask or a hair mask and catch up on some emails, do some Tindering, watch some YouTube videos or read the news (just don’t drop your phone in the bath because that won’t be very relaxing). Look at you go, getting so much done while you are having a soak.

Add the right product

While having a bath is relaxing, cleaning up the bath afterwards isn’t. So make sure you avoid anything thats too oily that will create a bath ring or even make your bath slippery and hard to get out of. Use a product like our Salty Bath Soaks which not only smell amazing, they also contain amazing beneficial ingredients like Epsom salt, Australian sea salt, Himalayan pink salt and just the right amount of coconut oil. These ingredients will supercharge your bath to soak away the stress of the day, ease sore muscles and detoxify.

Just keep soaking

If you are used to showers, you might think enough is enough and want to jump out after 10 minutes, but don't. For maximum soak benefits and to give your Salty Bath Soaks time to work their magic, stay in the bath for a least 20 minutes (and if this seems long you don't even want to know how long we stay soaking for).

The power of a fluffy towel

Invest in quality cotton bath sheets, yes we said bath sheets. Skip the towel size and go straight to these bad boys, there is nothing better than getting out of a bath and wrapping yourself up in a big, fluffy, bath towel. Bonus points if you also have a robe to swan about in afterwards.

Hydrate inside and out

Once you get out of the bath, keep that delicious warm feeling going by having a cup of herbal tea (we like Pukka Lemon, Ginger and Manuka Honey Tea). Don’t forget to slather yourself in some body moisturiser to seal in that coconut oil goodness (this is where the robe comes in, you can wear it while your moisturiser absorbs and you get to stay toasty and warm).

So there you go, we challenge anyone who doesn’t think they like baths to try our tips and see if they don’t become a soak lover after this. After all, I didn’t choose the soak life, the soak life chose me.
